One of the most overlooked parts of a car is the battery. Owners don’t take care of it as well as they should, and many of them end up needing a new battery. Did you know, though, that you can recondition a battery that is causing you problems? By cleaning it of sulfates and replacing it with electrolytes, you are effectively giving it a fresh lease of life. We have three simple methods for reconditioning your car battery. Find out if you need to have your car battery reconditioned. The battery can be tested to see if it needs to be refurbished. You’d be able to know by the voltage it generates. So you’ll need a voltmeter for this. Begin by inspecting the battery’s terminals for any signs of corrosion. If that’s the case, you’ll have to clean it first. The battery does not need to be reconditioned if the reading is 12.6V or greater. It is in fine working order. It can be reconditioned if the voltage falls between 10 and 12.6 volts. If the reading falls below that, the battery must be replaced. Reconditioning your automobile battery with Epsom Salt and Distilled Water
9 tablespoons Epsom salts, pure water, and a trickle charger are required for this procedure.

Begin by draining the battery acid from each of the six batteries.
Mix a gallon of distilled water with around 10 ounces (283 grams) of baking soda. This is something you can do in tiny amounts. Fill a bowl halfway with water and stir with a couple of spoons until the baking soda is completely dissolved.
Fill each cell with the resulting mixture. Place the cell cap on the battery and shake it to move the mixture around and rinse it.
Open the cell top once more and pour the mixture out.
Pour the Epsom salts into a bowl and add just enough distilled water to make a liquid solution. Before adding the salt, heat the water to around 150 degrees Fahrenheit. This will aid in its dissolution.
Combine the ingredients.
Pour one tablespoon of the mixture into each of the battery’s cells. Make sure it’s not too full. Use the full line on the battery as a guide to where you should fill it up to.
Then, for around 24 to 48 hours, connect the trickle charger to the battery at its lowest setting. The battery should be in like-new condition.
This procedure works because a solution of Epsom salts and purified water dissolves any sulfate buildup in the battery. This enables the battery to perform as well as it did previously.

According to some mechanics, this procedure can extend the life of a battery that is about to die by a couple of years. As a result, it is a must-try technique.
Reconditioning the automobile battery with a Smart Charger
There are battery chargers made specifically for reconditioning batteries. All you need is a smart charger to complete the operation.

The black and red clamps that come with the charger must be linked to the battery terminal.
Make sure the charger is in recondition mode before connecting the clips. You’ll need to purchase a charger with a reconditioning mode, such as the CTEK charger. To learn how to adjust the settings on the charger, read the instructions.
Connect the positive terminal with the red clamp and the negative terminal with the black clamp.
When you plug in some batteries after connecting them, they will begin to work automatically. Others, on the other hand, will require you to set the amperage. Set the charger to a low amp and leave it on for 24 to 48 hours to complete the reconditioning procedure. The higher amps are for charging your car quickly so you can get out, not for reconditioning the battery.
Once the battery is fully charged, remove the charger from the battery.

To resurrect a dead battery, use a 200A charger.
Because this procedure can be hazardous, make sure to follow all safety procedures. Two hundred amps is a lot of power, and it can cause the battery to explode, so do it carefully and in a well-ventilated place.

This procedure necessitates the use of a strong charger capable of delivering 200 amps of power.

The steps are the same for both the smart and trickle chargers. The positive terminal should be connected to the red clip, while the negative terminal should be connected to the black clip.
Turn on the charger and leave it to work for around 15 minutes.
Allow 45 minutes for the battery to rest before checking the voltage with a voltmeter.
You can repeat the process if the voltage isn’t more than 12.6V.
You may need to repeat the operation 4 to 5 times if the batteries are dead. However, if you do, give the battery a day to settle down before testing it again.
